Terms of Use

1. Acceptance
These Terms govern your use of CaRoot (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to these Terms and the App's Privacy Policy.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are a minor, use the App with the consent of a parent or guardian.
3. Account
An account (Apple, Google, or email) is required. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. The operator is not liable for damages caused by unauthorized use of your account, except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence.
4. Service
The App provides meal, weight, and water logging, AI-based calorie and nutrient estimation, and suggestions about meals and weekly trends. Some AI processing is performed using third-party AI services. Features may be added, changed, or discontinued without notice.
5. Estimates & health disclaimer
All calories, nutrients, and AI suggestions shown in the App are automated estimates and are not guaranteed to be accurate or complete. The App does not provide, and is not a substitute for, medical care, diagnosis, treatment, disease prevention, or dietary counseling. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or nursing, or require a restricted diet, consult a doctor or registered dietitian. Make health decisions based on professional advice.
6. User content
Your logged data belongs to you. However, information you submit to shared databases (such as barcode product data) may be stored, reproduced, modified, and displayed to other users by the operator, free of charge and dissociated from you, in order to operate and improve the App.
7. Paid plans & billing
In addition to the free plan, the App offers paid subscriptions and one-time purchases. Prices and contents are shown in the App. Payment is processed through the App Store, and Apple's terms apply to payment, renewal, and refunds. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel from your device's OS settings (subscription management). If a free trial is offered, billing starts automatically unless you cancel before the trial ends. Canceling a paid plan does not delete your account or logged data — only paid features become unavailable.
8. Ads
On the free plan, third-party advertisements may be shown in the App.
9. Prohibited conduct
You may not: (1) attempt unauthorized access, overload the system, or reverse engineer the App; (2) misuse the API or send automated bulk requests; (3) impersonate others; (4) submit false data to shared databases (such as barcode product data); (5) violate applicable laws.
10. Intellectual property
All intellectual property rights in the App and its contents (name, logo, design, software, etc.) belong to the operator or their rightful owners.
11. Suspension
If you violate these Terms, the operator may suspend your use of the App or delete your account without prior notice.
12. No warranty & limitation of liability
The App is provided "as is", and the operator does not warrant its accuracy, usefulness, or fitness for a particular purpose. The operator is not liable for damages arising from use or inability to use the App, except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence. Where the operator is liable, total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the preceding 12 months (subject to mandatory consumer protection laws where applicable).
13. Suspension & termination of service
The App, in whole or in part, may be suspended or terminated without notice due to maintenance, failures, or outages of external services.
14. Changes
Changes to these Terms will be announced in the App. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the operator's location.
